Exercise PlannerThe Opportunity: Do you want to use your emergency management expertise, analytical skills, and strategic perspective to improve organizational mission performance in national preparedness and capability building? As an integral part of our team, you’ll leverage your deep understanding of the National Response Framework to lead engaging planning and coordination with clients and stakeholders, driving the design, development, execution, and evaluation of both discussion- and operations-based exercises.
In this role, you’ll combine strong facilitation skills with strategy development and process improvement expertise to guide meaningful discussions, align priorities, and foster collaboration that leads to impactful outcomes. You will apply your expert-level knowledge of Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) doctrine and emergency management preparedness principles to ensure exercises assess and validate operational readiness.
You’ll also use your exceptional writing skills to clearly articulate lessons learned, document key actions, and craft actionable recommendations that inform senior leadership decision-making and drive organizational evolution.
This is an opportunity to improve efficiency within the homeland security and national resilience enterprise, providing your clients with a holistic assessment of their operations and processes to reveal unrealized potential and address systemic challenges. You Have:
- 8+ years of experience planning and leading emergency management exercises and projects
- 4+ years of experience with emergency management at the federal level
- Experience coordinating and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to optimize performance and foster cross-functional expertise
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Knowledge of HSEEP doctrine, emergency management preparedness principles, and emergency management guidelines and documents
- Ability to maintain project schedules and ensure quality deliverables
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple high-priority assignments
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
Nice If You Have:
- Experience in Microsoft Power Automate for streamlining workflows and automating repetitive processes
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau for creating data visualizations, dashboards, and performing data-driven decision analyses
- Experience with Planner or Microsoft Project for project scheduling and resource management
- Experience using GIS analysis tools such as ArcGIS to support spatial and situational awareness in emergency management
- Knowledge of SharePoint for managing collaborative processes, document control, and team coordination
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possession of excellent project management skills
