# About the Company

BFJ is hiring!

The Staff Accountant – Audit supports audit engagements by performing assigned procedures and documenting workpapers in accordance with firm methodology and professional standards. The role collaborates with engagement team members to execute fieldwork efficiently, communicates status and issues promptly, and contributes to high-quality client service and on-time deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned audit procedures across key financial statement areas (testing, confirmations, tie-outs, and documentation) under supervision
  • Prepare and organize audit workpapers in accordance with firm standards; ensure conclusions are supported and cross-referenced
  • Assist with planning and administrative engagement tasks (PBC request lists, schedule tracking, document management)
  • Perform basic research on accounting/auditing topics and escalate complex issues to the engagement lead
  • Communicate with client personnel to obtain documentation and clarify questions, maintaining professional and timely follow-up
  • Support drafting of financial statements, disclosures, and engagement deliverables as assigned

Key Accountabilities

  • Workpapers are complete, accurate, and review-ready
  • Engagement tasks completed on schedule with clear communication of progress
  • Professional client interactions and timely follow-through on requests

Skill / Knowledge Requirements

  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial statements
  • Familiarity with audit concepts (materiality, risk, internal controls) and willingness to learn firm methodology
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and comfort working in audit and document management tools

Professional Experience Requirements

  • 0–2 years of public accounting and/or audit internship experience (or equivalent coursework/experience)
