Full job description
As the Director of Knowledge Management, you will own Oura’s enterprise knowledge strategy and serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for our transition to governed, durable knowledge practices. Operating at the intersection of People, IT, Legal, Comms, and Operations, you will establish taxonomy, build governance frameworks, and drive the cultural change needed to ensure the right knowledge reaches the right people at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
Knowledge Strategy & Architecture
- Define enterprise-wide taxonomy, governance, and "living knowledge" frameworks to support rapid scaling and IPO readiness.
- Develop corporate ontologies to ensure institutional knowledge is machine-searchable and AI-ready.
- Partner with senior leadership to identify and mitigate organizational memory risks.
Data Retention & Migration (Program Lead)
- Serve as DRI for a 7-wave data retention program, transitioning the company from Slack-centric storage to durable repositories (Confluence, Google Drive).
- Build and mobilize a cross-functional network of department champions to lead migration efforts.
- Enforce documentation standards, leverage AI tools (e.g., Glean) for migration, and manage change to prevent shadow IT.
- Partner with Legal to manage compliance carve-outs, legal holds, and retention policies.
Institutional Memory Preservation
- Standardize knowledge capture for critical transitions (departures, role changes, org redesigns).
- Embed retrospective practices to systematically document decision rationales and project context.
Platform Stewardship & Change Management
- Co-own governance of Oura’s tech stack (Confluence, Google Workspace, Glean, Miro, Slack, Intranet) in partnership with IT.
- Optimize information architecture to support multi-tool AI stack use cases (e.g., performance reviews, deal continuity).
- Embed knowledge hygiene into core HR milestones (onboarding, L&D tracking, planning cycles).
- Define and track KPIs for knowledge health, including content currency, discoverability, and search efficacy.
Qualifications
- 12+ years in knowledge management, organizational effectiveness, change management, L&D, or an adjacent field.
- Proven success scaling KM practices within high-growth, Series C+ or pre-IPO environments.
- Prefer candidates with hands-on expertise with Google Workspace, Glean, Miro, and Slack.
- Exceptional track record of driving cross-functional behavior change, program management, and cultural alignment.
- Familiarity with data retention compliance, legal governance, or HR/L&D operations.
