About This Role:

As the Director of Procurement - Global Development & Medical Services, you will play a pivotal role within the Research, Development, and Medical Services Procurement team. This position is integral to driving procurement strategies, managing a substantial ~$600M spend across diverse subcategories such as Clinical Trial CRO Management, Clinical Technologies, and Medical Affairs services.

In this role the focus will be on translating high-level business objectives and priorities into deployable strategies, facilitated through a procurement team. With your business insights, commercial foresight, and procurement expertise you’ll shape category strategies, influence decision-making, and unlock opportunities that extend beyond cost.

This Director will report to the Head of Research, Development & Medical Services.

What You’ll Do

  • Category Strategy Leadership: Lead a team of Global Category Mangers to build & refresh strategic category strategies grounded in external market signals and internal demand, to enable business acceleration.
  • Supplier Relationship Ownership: Drive Global SRM for strategic partners, lead Business Operations Committee (BOC) Governance, QBS, and issue & performance management to enable business goals and objectives.
  • Spend Analytics & Value Generation: Utilize spend data analytics, market intelligence, and benchmarking to identify value opportunities, optimize vendor services, drive Cost Reduction & Avoidance improving value return in alignment with Finance.
  • Cross Functional Leadership: Partner with senior stakeholders to build relationships and coordinate structured decision making across diverse teams that facilitate business alignment, acceleration, and value.
  • Negotiation Leadership: Set and execute negotiation strategies and playbooks for complex global MSAs, rate cards, rebates, and commercial terms to secure value, control, and speed.
  • Execution Excellence: Ensure efficiency of procurement events through optimal use of buying channels, program implementations of tools and systems that drive successful execution while managing risks and clear stakeholder communication.
  • Preferred Supplier Ecosystem: Evaluate vendor landscape to align preferred suppliers meeting the business’ priorities across Business Units, Therapeutic Areas, and Global environment to ensure consistency, compliance and outcomes.

Required Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 12+ years of related leadership experience including 6+ years of clinical or adjacent category management, and at least 3 years in team management in a global environment
  • Proven leadership of high impact teams and ability to mentor and coach team members to develop strategic capabilities
  • Ability to influence, collaborate, and communicate effectively with strong stakeholder management skills, building trust across cross-functional teams and senior business partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, global procurement initiatives and manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Expertise in prioritizing, organizing, and multitasking in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven value generation from both internal and external opportunities.
  • Proficiency with digital procurement tools, advanced analytics, automation, and AI-enabled insights
  • Proficiency in sophisticated negotiations across varied commercial models and deal structures, including CROs, Clinical Technologies, and Medical Affairs.

The base compensation range for this role is: $184,000.00-$253,000.00 Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
