TITLE: Agricultural Recovery Worker (DRE WEX Position) – Sno-Valley Farms or Chinook Farms

REPORTS TO: Team Lead

LOCATION: Snohomish County, WA

EMPLOYMENT TYPE/FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Disaster Relief Employment (DRE)

HOURLY COMPENSATION RANGE: $17.50 - $30.99 per hour

POSITION DURATION: 9-months (nine) months (temporary disaster relief position)

Position Summary:

Career Team is looking to hire an Agricultural Recovery Worker who will perform cleanup and recovery operations on disaster-damaged agricultural lands within the declared disaster area. Work focuses on cleaning, repair, and renovation of flood-damaged farms and facilities designed to restore productive capacity and mitigate economic impacts of the declared disaster event before the critical planting/growing season. This is a project-based position funded through 9-months, with the possibility of extension (depending on funding). This position is expected to be 100% onsite performing Disaster Relief Employment work. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Sno-Valley Farms or Chinook Farms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct cleaning and repair of flood-damaged agricultural lands to restore productive capacity
  • Remove hay bales and agricultural debris from fields
  • Perform ongoing cleanup of flooded fields with standing water to mitigate health and safety impacts
  • Assist with demolition, removal or repair of disaster-damaged fencing infrastructure
  • Coordinate repair and renovation of farm machinery and facilities damaged as a consequence of the declared disaster event
  • Assist with demolition and removal of destroyed equipment that poses safety hazards
  • Support transportation services for equipment removal as cleanup activities
  • Perform water management operations in flooded agricultural areas
  • Install temporary drainage systems to address standing water issues
  • Assist in pasture and field renovation due to sediment deposits from flooding
  • Document field conditions and recovery progress
  • Follow safety protocols when working with damaged equipment and structures
  • Approach each day and task with a “ZAG” mindset
  • Other duties and projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications: (subject to modification based on placement)

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor and wet conditions
  • Experience with farm equipment or agricultural operations preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate basic farm tools
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and terrain
  • A Valid Driver’s License

Eligibility:

Eligible Participants must also meet the following criteria for this project-based position.

  • Has been terminated, laid off, or received a notice of termination or layoff; OR
  • Has been temporarily or permanently laid off as a consequence of emergency or disaster conditions related to recent flooding; OR
  • Was self-employed but is now unemployed as a result of the economic impact of emergency or disaster conditions related to recent flooding; OR
  • Is a military service member recently discharged or released under other than dishonorable conditions; OR
  • Is a military spouse who experienced a PCS or ETS in the last 6 months; OR
  • Up until recently relied on another immediate family member for financial support and no longer has that support; OR
  • Has been unemployed for longer than 27 weeks

This position is temporary and funded through a federal disaster relief grant, so the number of openings is limited and tied to available funding. You’ll work day-to-day at your assigned site, but Career Team will be your official employer and will handle your payroll and benefits. Before starting, you’ll complete an enrollment process with Career Team to get set up.
