Company Overview

Department Overview

Motorola Solution's Access Control Division (Avigilon Alta) is redefining how people experience the spaces they move through, starting at the front door. Our mission is to make physical environments smarter, safer, and more seamless through modern access control and automation technology that people rely on every day. We’re building an industry-leading platform at meaningful scale, and we’re looking for engineers who want to shape the future of physical-meets-digital systems. This is a place where you’ll work on real-world problems that span distributed systems, hardware-adjacent software, security, and high-availability cloud services used by organizations around the world.

Job Description

About the Role

Motorola Solutions is looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead our government and regulated-markets strategy across the Alta cloud platform. Public sector - federal, state, local, and international government - is one of the largest untapped opportunities for Alta, and the gate to it is trust: meeting the security, compliance, and certification bars these buyers require before they'll deploy.

This is a net-new role with a cross-product charter. You'll own the product work that makes Alta sellable into government, starting with Alta Video and expanding to the full Alta portfolio over time. You'll operate with a startup mindset inside a large enterprise, standing up a function rather than inheriting one. You won't just manage a roadmap - you'll define the playbook for how Alta wins regulated business.

Initial focus, broader charter: Your first priority is Alta Video - driving FedRAMP authorization for our VMS and cameras. Over time, the charter extends across Alta products, including the more involved work of bringing Alta Access into government compliance. You're being hired for the whole arc, not just the first milestone.

What You'll Do

  • Own the Government Product Charter: Define the vision and roadmap for selling Alta into government across federal, state, local, and international markets. Decide what we certify, in what order, and what product gaps must close to unlock each segment.
  • Drive Certification Programs to Authorization: Lead FedRAMP authorization for Alta Video VMS and cameras end-to-end - the multi-team, multi-quarter effort spanning engineering, security, infrastructure, legal, the 3PAO, and a sponsoring agency. Own the roadmap, the dependencies, and the finish line.
  • Build the Compliance Roadmap Across Frameworks: Government deals turn on more than FedRAMP. Own our response to CJIS, StateRAMP/TexRAMP, NIS2 and the EU Cyber Resilience Act, and the next requirement a deal surfaces. Translate control requirements into product work and sequence them against revenue opportunity.
  • Turn Compliance Requests into Roadmap: When sales surfaces a government opportunity blocked by a specific requirement, you're the person who scopes it, sizes the opportunity, and decides whether and how we build for it. Build the intake and prioritization model that handles this repeatably.
  • Partner Deeply with Engineering and Security: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering and our security org on architecture, data handling, encryption, audit logging, and the deployment models government requires. Make smart trade-offs that satisfy auditors without forking the product.
  • Be the Government-Facing Product Voice: Represent Alta with agency buyers, integrators serving the public sector, auditors, and partners. Run discovery with government customers and bring those requirements back into the roadmap.
  • Define and Own Metrics: Build the measurement framework for government readiness and revenue - certification milestones, deals unblocked, pipeline influenced. Use it to make the case for continued investment.
  • Influence Across the Organization: Align Sales, Support, Legal, Marketing, and the product pods around government priorities. Get teams who don't report to you moving in the same direction.

What You'll Bring

  • 5-8 years of product management experience in SaaS, cloud platforms, or enterprise software
  • Experience shipping products into government or regulated markets, with working knowledge of compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, CJIS, StateRAMP, IL4/5, NIS2, or similar
  • A track record of owning complex, cross-functional programs end-to-end and driving them to a hard deadline with measurable outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead coalitions you don't manage - engineering, security, legal, and external auditors or agencies
  • Strong technical fluency: able to engage engineering on architecture, data handling, encryption, and system design, and to reason about how controls map to product
  • Experience translating regulatory or contractual requirements into clear product requirements and sequenced roadmaps
  • Proven ability to influence without authority across engineering, sales, legal, and leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including presenting strategy and trade-offs to senior leadership and to external government stakeholders

What Sets You Apart

  • Direct Certification Experience: You've taken a product through a government authorization - a FedRAMP ATO, StateRAMP, CMMC, or an international equivalent - and you know where the real time and risk live.
  • Public Sector Go-to-Market: You understand how government buys - contract vehicles, procurement cycles, the role of integrators and resellers in the public sector - and you've shaped product to fit it.
  • Physical Security or Adjacent Domain: Working knowledge of video surveillance, access control, or the physical security ecosystem, or transferable depth from another regulated domain (defense, healthcare, finance, critical infrastructure).
  • Cloud + On-Prem Hybrid: Experience with products bridging cloud and on-premise, including the isolated or government-cloud deployment models (GovCloud, sovereign regions) that public sector often requires.
  • AI Fascination and Vibe Coding: You can stand up AI-generated prototypes quickly and iterate on them. You don't wait for engineering to explore an idea.
  • International Government Experience: You've navigated compliance and data-sovereignty requirements outside the US.
