THE ROLE: Healthix is seeking a dynamic and strategic Associate Director/Director of Life Sciences & Research to lead the growth and development of our research and life sciences practice rea. This role is primarily focused on business development, relationship management, and revenue generation, with an emphasis on expanding partnerships across life sciences organizations, academic health organizations, research institutions, and public health entities.
The Associate Director/Director will play a critical role in advancing Healthix’s transformation by operationalizing health data to support research, innovation, and real-world evidence initiatives. This individual will cultivate new opportunities, strengthen existing partnerships, and position Healthix as a trusted partner in data-driven research and population health improvement.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of healthcare data ecosystems, experience working with research and life sciences stakeholders, and a proven ability to identify, develop, and close partnership opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development & Revenue Growth
Identify, cultivate, and secure new partnerships across life sciences, research organizations, academic medical centers, and public health agencies Develop and execute a strategic growth plan to expand Healthix’s research and life sciences portfolio Drive revenue generation through new engagements, including real-world evidence studies, data services, and research collaborations Partner with internal stakeholders to define and package data-driven solutions aligned with market needs
Relationship Management & Partnerships
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, academic health science centers, and government agencies Serve as the primary point of contact for life sciences and research partners, ensuring high levels of engagement and satisfaction Collaborate with Customer Success, Data Strategy, and Engineering teams to deliver value and ensure successful execution of partnerships Represent Healthix in external forums, industry events, and collaborative initiatives
Research & Innovation Enablement
- Support the expansion of Healthix’s role in enabling research initiatives, including population health studies, public health programs, and clinical research collaborations
- Identify opportunities to leverage Healthix data assets to support real-world evidence, outcomes research, and health equity initiatives
- Collaborate with internal teams to align research use cases with Healthix’s data governance, privacy, and compliance frameworks
Market Insight & Strategy
- Stay informed on industry trends across life sciences, digital health, academic research, and healthcare data utilization
- Identify emerging opportunities in areas such as AI-driven research, data interoperability, and value-based care
- Provide market feedback to inform product development and organizational strategy
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- May oversee or mentor team members supporting research partnerships, business development
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) 7+ years of experience in healthcare, life sciences, research partnerships, or business development roles Proven track record of developing and managing strategic partnerships and driving revenue growth Experience working with life sciences organizations, academic health centers, research institutions, or public health agencies Strong understanding of healthcare data, including clinical data sources, interoperability, and real-world data applications Familiarity with research governance, including IRB processes, data use agreements, and privacy considerations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), including platforms such as InterSystems HealthShare Background in real-world evidence (RWE), clinical research, or population health analytics Experience supporting or leading grant-funded research initiatives Exposure to AI/analytics applications in healthcare research and data utilization
