The Opportunity:
The Director, Compliance is responsible for leading and overseeing the organization's compliance program, ensuring adherence to applicable federal and state regulations, industry standards, client requirements, and internal policies. This leader serves as a trusted partner to operational and executive leadership, promoting a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement while mitigating organizational risk.
The Director, Compliance will develop, implement, and monitor compliance initiatives that support organizational objectives and regulatory requirements across healthcare revenue cycle operations.
## Key Responsibilities
### Compliance Program Leadership
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective compliance program aligned with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Monitor changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and industry standards and assess organizational impact.
- Establish compliance policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate risk and promote adherence to applicable regulations.
- Lead compliance risk assessments and develop action plans to address identified gaps.
### Regulatory Oversight & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and applicable revenue cycle requirements.
- Investigate compliance concerns, regulatory inquiries, and reported violations.
- Partner with Legal, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Information Security, and Operations to resolve identified issues.
- Maintain documentation supporting compliance activities, corrective actions, and regulatory readiness.
### Auditing & Monitoring
- Direct ongoing auditing and monitoring activities to evaluate compliance effectiveness.
- Analyze trends and audit findings to identify areas of risk and improvement.
- Develop and oversee corrective action plans and monitor progress through resolution.
- Report audit outcomes and compliance metrics to executive leadership.
### Education & Culture
- Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organization.
- Develop and deliver compliance education and awareness programs.
- Provide guidance and coaching to leaders and associates regarding compliance-related matters.
- Foster open communication and encourage reporting of compliance concerns.
### Leadership & Strategic Partnership
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on compliance matters.
- Lead and develop compliance team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance development.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to embed compliance best practices into daily workflows.
- Support organizational growth initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance.
## Qualifications
### Required
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Law, Finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive healthcare compliance, regulatory, audit, risk management, or revenue cycle leadership experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams and compliance programs.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, CMS, OIG guidance, and healthcare compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience conducting investigations, audits, and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and executive stakeholder management skills.
### Preferred
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Law, or related field.
- Healthcare compliance certification (CHC, CHPC, CHRC, CCEP, or equivalent).
- Experience supporting large, multi-site healthcare systems or revenue cycle organizations.
- Experience presenting compliance findings and recommendations to executive leadership and boards.
This position pays between: $130000-165000K
