Primary Function of Position:
The IonTM endoluminal system is Intuitive's robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. The main responsibility of the position is to play a key role in the software verification of the features for Ion products.
The Software Test Engineer will support the verification and validation of software for a robotic surgical system. Working closely with the software developers, system engineers, and other cross-functional teams, this individual will design, develop, execute and document software verification activities to ensure product quality and compliance with requirements. This role requires strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality software in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, execute and document test protocols for the functional verification of complex robotic surgical systems.
- Review and provide feedback on requirement/specification clarity to support test method development.
- Perform traceability analysis to ensure 100% test coverage
- Perform hands-on testing and test execution using automated test tools and test management applications.
- Develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test cases to verify software functionality and system performance.
- Document test results, defects, and verification activities in accordance with established processes and procedures.
- Develop test scripts and automation solutions, as appropriate, to improve test efficiency and coverage.
- Create and maintain module-level software tests using Python or other scripting languages.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using issue management tools.
- Collaborate with software developers and cross functional team members to investigate issues, reproduce failures, and verify corrective actions.
- Perform integration, regression, sanity, release acceptance, system, and ad-hoc testing to support software releases.
- Execute verification activities for software defect fixes and support formal verification efforts.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of test methods, tools, and processes.
- Perform product demos when necessary.
Skill/Job Requirements:
To qualify for this position, a candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline and 2+ years’ experience (or Master’s degree).
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to methodically investigate and isolate issues.
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision in a fast paced environment.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional engineering team.
- Understanding of software testing principles and verification methodologies.
Ideally, a candidate would also have:
- Basic programming or scripting experience in python or similar language.
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux Operating systems and Virtualization.
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
- Experience with Medical Design Control processes.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
- Experience with Bug Tracking tools.
- Experience with Requirements Management Tools.
- Experience with Test Management Tools.
