JOB SUMMARY
The BIOS Developer is responsible for leading BIOS/UEFI development and platform integration activities across complex hardware programs. This role provides technical ownership for firmware features, drives debug and performance optimization, and ensures BIOS readiness for validation, manufacturing, and customer delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead BIOS/UEFI firmware development, subsystem enablement, and integration activities across one or more product platforms.
- Define implementation approach for BIOS features and ensure alignment to platform architecture, system requirements, and release plans.
- Drive investigation and resolution of complex firmware and system issues discovered during bring-up, validation, or customer escalation.
- Lead BIOS validation readiness, tuning, and optimization activities to improve platform stability, functionality, and performance.
- Partner with Electrical, BMC, Systems, Validation, and other engineering teams to resolve cross-domain issues and align release decisions.
- Guide firmware quality practices including issue tracking, regression coverage, code review support, and release discipline.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to standard methods, reusable code approaches, and technical capability building within the firmware team.
- Provide clear communication of technical direction, tradeoffs, milestone health, and open risks to leadership and key stakeholders.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in BIOS, UEFI, embedded firmware, or low-level platform software development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong expertise in firmware architecture, BIOS bring-up, platform initialization, and issue debugging.
- Experience with server, storage, networking, or x86-based compute platforms is required.
- Ability to lead cross-functional technical issue resolution involving firmware, hardware, and validation teams.
- Strong coding, debug, and technical communication capability.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead technical execution with limited oversight.
