Full job description
AVP, Global Media Relations role will support the amplification of key messages tied to the commercial priorities of the firm, with a particular focus on Nuveen's public markets and wealth platforms. A strategic emphasis will be placed on Brooklyn Investment Group, Nuveen's direct indexing separately managed account business, and the firm's growing alternatives for wealth platform — two high-priority growth areas for the firm.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented team player with PR agency or financial services communications experience, strong writing and editing skills and a keen interest in financial markets and asset management. Familiarity with public markets investing, direct indexing, tax-managed investing or alternative investments distributed through wealth channels is a plus.
The person who joins in this role will be part of a growing global communications team and serve as a key partner to Nuveen’s businesses and stakeholders, including investing teams, marketing, legal & compliance, client relations and other areas of the firm. They will be externally facing and work to bring the best of Nuveen to clients and the market.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Executes and develops communications programs that effectively describe and promote Nuveen's public markets and wealth platforms, with a strategic emphasis on Brooklyn Investment Group's direct indexing separately managed account business and the firm's alternatives for wealth offerings
- Monitors external media relations and creates strong rapport with business, financial and trade media to present a positive and differentiated image of Nuveen's public markets and wealth capabilities to external audiences. Proactively identifies opportunities to elevate Brooklyn Investment Group and alternatives for wealth narratives through earned media.
- Work alongside Nuveen’s Global Media Relations team to enhance firm’s brand through fully integrated communications programs that ensure consistency of messaging and align with global objectives, with a particular focus on positioning Brooklyn Investment Group and alternatives for wealth as differentiated, high-growth strategic priorities for the firm.
- Foster working relationships with business/financial and trade media across channels (print, broadcast, digital and social), with an emphasis on outlets and journalists covering wealth management and financial planning
- Reviews external communications to ensure accuracy, consistency and alignment with strategic messaging frameworks
- Work in lockstep with business partners across investments, product and marketing teams on reputational and risk issues as it relates to commercial priorities
- Partner with team members, third-party PR agencies and external vendors on day-to-day reporting and metrics, including daily scans, weekly & quarterly reports, measurement of earned media results, and tracking share of voice
- Support day-to-day media activities and assist in overseeing media monitoring and digital media efforts. Adhere to editorial style guides for communications content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all public markets and wealth platform communications.
Educational Requirements
- University (Degree) Preferred

Required Skills:
- 3 years of experience in Public and Media Relations.
- 2 Years of experience working in PR Agencies.
- Basic working knowledge of PR metrics and measurement platforms like Cision, Factiva and other similar clipping tools
