Job Description
As a Solar Asset Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise to a large fleet of operating PV facilities in order to maximize the performance and reliability of these assets.
Responsibilities
- Provide first line engineering support for the day-to-day operations of the Invenergy utility-scale solar fleet
- Collaborate with cross functional groups to resolve issues on site (Control Center, SCADA, on-site technicians, EHS, other operations engineers)
- Identify, evaluate, and resolve equipment reliability and performance issues to maximize site energy production by analyzing parts usage, inspection results, and SCADA data to gain operational insights.
- Interface with equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues and develop best operating practices.
- Develop procedures and technical documentation regarding the safe and efficient operation of solar facilities.
- Evaluate mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and studies associated with photovoltaic systems and their applications for operations
- Participate in regular site operation calls and work with field personnel to investigate equipment issues and maximize performance
- Lead pilot projects to evaluate new equipment, tools, or processes
- Onboard new solar projects into the operating fleet
- Support the end-of-warranty inspection process at facilities
- Work with Invenergy’s performance analytics team to develop new monitoring strategies and predictive analytics for solar facilities.
- Some travel is required (<20%) and moderate field work may be required
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- 2-4+ years of experience in engineering, systems integration, or technical support roles
- 1-3 years of directly relevant experience or Advanced Degree (preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Problem solving and critical thinking
- Competency in data analysis and visualization
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to independently manage projects and drive initiatives
- Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with PV Systems
- Degree concentration in Power Systems or Renewable Energy Systems
- Understanding of Electrical Safety Practices
- Working knowledge of NEC, NESC, ASCE and ANSI/IEEE standards and codes.
- Experience with HV/MV electrical infrastructure
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) Software
- Experience with Data Analysis and Visualization tools (PowerBI, PI Data Historian, Python, etc.
Base Pay
$85,000 - $108,000 USD Annual Bonus: 15%
