Full job description

The Assistant Tune Manager is responsible for supervising and overseeing the retail and rental tuning department. Primary responsibilities include maintaining the highest standards for tuned skis/snowboards by manufacturer's specification, overseeing and managing tune shop employees and equipment, and maintaining and promoting a safe work environment. This position reports to the Tune Shop Manager.

  • The budgeted salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.
  • Applications for this position will be considered on a rolling basis
  • Assist with the oversight and management of tuning operations, including tune department staff, workflow, equipment, and quality standards
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of tune department employees, including assigning work, managing schedules, and monitoring performance
  • Manage the safe tuning of Aspen Collection and guest equipment while maintaining high quality standards for ski and snowboard preparation
  • Assist with training and coaching tune technicians on proper tuning techniques, equipment operation, and department procedures
  • Assist in managing inventory control, receiving, and distribution functions of rental equipment operations at the Aspen Warehouse
  • Support routine maintenance, cleaning, and organization of tuning machinery, equipment, and workspaces
  • Train and coach employees on company policies, procedures, job responsibilities, and safety expectations while maintaining required documentation
  • Promote and maintain a safe, positive, and productive work environment in alignment with Aspen Skiing Company standards and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements
  • Provide exceptional guest service and collaborate effectively with stores, departments, and leadership teams to support operational success
  • Maintain compliance with loss prevention policies and procedures
  • Support operational efficiency by maintaining organized workflows and assisting with department needs as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements

  • 2+ years ski/snowboard tune shop or equivalent experience
  • Highschool degree required, college degree preferred
  • Valid driver's license preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of ski/snowboard construction and maintenance
  • Skills and knowledge of repair methods and ski tuning machinery
  • Service oriented approach and mindset
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires quick thinking and effective multitasking
  • Strong people skills and communication skills, both written and verbal

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Kneeling and bending may be required
  • Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoors and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
