Full job description

This role is part of Alcon's Quality & Regulatory Affairs function, a team that ensures our products are in compliance with global, local, and internal regulations and meet the strictest standards of quality as we help people see brilliantly.

The Surveillance Auditor is responsible for verifying that manufacturing operations are performed in accordance with approved procedures, work instructions, and quality standards. This role focuses on real-time observation and auditing of production and warehouse floor activities to identify gaps between documented processes and actual practices, ensuring compliance, consistency, and continuous improvement at our Manufacturing Facility in Houston, TX. Specifics include:

Practice vs. Procedure Auditing

  • Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc surveillance audits within manufacturing and production areas
  • Observe operations to ensure alignment with:
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Work Instructions (WIs)
  • Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
  • Identify deviations between documented procedures and actual execution
  • Document findings clearly, with objective evidence

Compliance Monitoring

  • Ensure adherence to applicable Alcon standards
  • Verify proper use of tools, materials, and documentation
  • Confirm correct execution of critical process steps

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare detailed audit reports outlining:
  • Observations
  • Nonconformances (minor/major)
  • Opportunities for improvement
  • Track and trend audit results to identify systemic issues
  • Maintain audit records in accordance with internal requirements

TRAINING AND AWARENESS

  • Provide feedback to operators and supervisors on audit findings
  • Support reinforcement of procedural compliance and quality culture
  • Assist in identifying training needs based on observed deficiencies

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • Work Hours: Night Shift Monday – Thursday- 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM CST
  • Location: Onsite
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 10%
