Position Summary
The Cable Management Specialist serves as the primary subject matter expert for medium-voltage (MV), high-voltage (HV), and associated project cable management activities across utility-scale solar, BESS, and other energy infrastructure projects. This hybrid role bridges Procurement, Engineering, and Operations by developing cable reel plans, managing cable-related material requirements, and ensuring cable logistics support project schedules and field execution requirements.
The Cable Management Specialist acts as the central liaison between procurement teams, engineering groups, suppliers, and field operations to optimize cable procurement, reel planning, delivery sequencing, and installation readiness. This position plays a critical role in reducing waste, minimizing cable handling issues, improving constructability, and ensuring successful project execution.
This role reports administratively to the Procurement Manager while working closely with Operations and Construction leadership on cable planning and execution activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Cable Planning & Management
- Develop and maintain cable reel plans for MV, HV, and project-specific cable systems.
- Coordinate cable reel optimization efforts to support efficient installation and minimize scrap material.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation to determine cable requirements.
- Review cable routing, lengths, splice locations, and installation constraints with engineering and field teams.
- Create and maintain cable tracking tools, reports, and material management spreadsheets.
- Support cable forecasting, inventory planning, and material allocation across active projects.
- Participate in constructability reviews to ensure cable installation plans align with field execution strategies.
Procurement & Supplier Coordination
- Partner with Procurement teams to develop cable procurement strategies and support sourcing activities.
- Assist in developing and maintaining cable Bills of Material (BOMs) and material requirement documentation.
- Coordinate with cable manufacturers and suppliers regarding reel schedules, packaging requirements, and delivery sequencing.
- Track production, shipment status, and delivery commitments to support project schedules.
- Resolve cable-related procurement, logistics, and delivery issues as they arise.
- Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Engineering & Operations Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering, Procurement, and Operations for cable-related activities.
- Review engineering deliverables and collaborate with stakeholders to identify risks, conflicts, and opportunities for optimization.
- Support field teams by providing cable management guidance and resolving installation-related challenges.
- Coordinate cable release schedules and delivery sequencing to align with construction milestones.
- Participate in project planning meetings and provide cable management expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain reporting metrics related to cable utilization, reel planning, inventory, and project performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve cable management processes, procedures, and tools.
- Support standardization of cable planning practices across the organization.
- Assist in developing best practices for cable procurement, logistics, tracking, and field execution.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in utility-scale solar, BESS, power delivery, electrical construction, procurement, material management, engineering support, or related industries.
- Experience working with MV, HV, or large-scale electrical cable systems.
- Experience developing Bills of Material (BOMs), material tracking reports, and project spreadsheets.
- Understanding of utility-scale construction processes and project execution requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing cable reel plans and cable management strategies.
- Knowledge of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
- Experience working with engineering drawings, site layouts, and electrical construction documents.
- Familiarity with Autodesk products and construction management software platforms.
- Experience with Vista Viewpoint or similar ERP/project management systems.
- Understanding of cable logistics, installation sequencing, and field construction operations.

PAY EQUITY
$110,000 - $120,000
Primoris Renewable Energy provides the following compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. Primoris Renewable Energy reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
