Job Description

A Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting cargo, promoting safety and security standards, and ensuring high-quality customer service.

This role requires a CDL-Class A license with relevant endorsements and a commitment to adhering to safety regulations and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support and Promote Safety Standards: Uphold and promote the local implementation of the Safety and Security Quality Management System (SSQMS) by strictly following all relevant policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Cargo Transportation: Transport cargo using a 53' trailer between various types of aircraft and the warehouse or between warehouses. This task must be carried out while adhering to strict safety regulations and maintaining the integrity of the cargo.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a customer service-oriented approach when interacting with airline representatives and staff. Provide courteous and professional service while handling cargo operations.
  • Other duties as assigned: Be flexible and willing to perform any other tasks or responsibilities as required by the company to meet operational needs.
  • Be prepared to take on other duties as assigned by the company, which could vary depending on operational needs.

Safety, Security and Compliance:

  • Take reasonable care for the health, wellbeing, safety, and security of themselves and of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions while at work.
  • Cooperate with their manager / supervisor to allow them to perform or comply with any legal requirements imposed on the company.
  • Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided by the company in the interests of health, wellbeing, safety, security, or welfare reasons.
  • Inform their manager / supervisor of any work situation, equipment, or activity that represents a serious or immediate danger to health, wellbeing, safety, and security.
  • Report any hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences to their manager / supervisor, who will then follow the procedures contained in company and carrier Safety and Security procedures.
  • Carry out work in accordance with information and training provided and any specific health, wellbeing, safety, and security rules or procedures.
  • Fully understand AGI Health & Safety and Security policies.
  • Attend training courses as may be required by AGI.

Qualifications

  • Hold a CDL-Class A license with manual transmission experience and a hazmat endorsement, which is required for handling hazardous materials.
  • Ability to operate a tractor-trailer (53' trailer) on a daily basis to handle the airport's workload efficiently.
  • Minimum age of 18 and possession of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • The ability to obtain airport security clearance, which includes a comprehensive 10-year employment, criminal record, and residence background check.
  • If work location is in the United States, must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. If work location is in Canada, must have authorization to work in Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift X pounds (X kg) on a regular basis.
  • Carry heavy items up and down jetway stairs.
  • Climb, bend, kneel, crawl and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods.
  • Work outside in all types of weather, around jet and machinery noises.
