Security Department
The Security Department for Vantage Data Centers is very hands on. In most cases, we specify, purchase, configure and maintain all networking and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes so that we can make informed purchase decisions. We are always looking for ways to strike the best balance between technology, performance, and cost. Vantage Security Department also participates in designing each of our new data center building’s security infrastructure. Position Overview
This role will be based on site in Ashburn, VA.
The Security team is looking for a forward-thinking, results-oriented, innovative Security Manager with the ability to develop, execute and oversee data center (DC) security operations and programs. As the Security Manager, you will be expected to create and verify compliance with security procedures, training, standards, and policies, while optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of physical security at our facilities. You will champion new initiatives for the security team and oversee planning processes and delegations across multiple business partner teams. You will contribute and help drive the development of long-term corporate strategy and goals. You will partner with the Design and Engineering Team, Site Operations, and Construction Managers.
Essential Job Functions
Vendor Management and Maintenance:
- Manage and coordinate vendor service calls and preventative maintenance inspections.
Training and Procedures:
- Train personnel in physical security procedures and the use of physical security equipment.
- Prepare, maintain, and update physical security policies & procedures, physical security system drawings, or related documentation.
- Onboard and orient all new security hires.
Security Enforcement and Visitor Management:
- Enforce safety regulations at the facility.
- Direct, inform, and escort visitors, customers, and suppliers.
- Maintain order and prevent undue unrest, offense, or theft of property.
- Control access and enforce the facility's internal and outdoor traffic regulations for staff, visitors, users, and suppliers, as well as all applicable regulations.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Make periodic rounds (physical and camera) to detect any anomalies.
- Schedule regular patrols, assign tags at required areas, run reports, and become familiar with all features of the reporting tool and software provided by 3rd party security services.
- Manage weekly/monthly 3rd party security invoices and hours.
- Generate reports as needed for VDC Audits and as required by customers.
Security Systems Management:
- Create and modify panel configurations, door contacts/inputs, clearance levels, etc.
- Conduct physical security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities in existing physical security systems.
- Create, manage, and maintain access levels for all Vantage data centers.
- Retrieve video footage as requested or required for legal, law enforcement, or operational review.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and repair as needed.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Collaborate with other departments during system design, implementation, and commissioning of new VDC buildings to ensure projects are completed per VDC standards, safety is maintained, and all timelines are met.
- Help lead the setup of overall security at new sites and teams.
Conflict Resolution and Multitasking:
- Resolve conflicts and issues that arise on-site and find feasible solutions.
- Organize meetings, present on Microsoft Teams to other teams, and manage the site itself.
Technical Support and Spare Parts Management:
- Provide technical support to end users and field labor when applicable.
- Update and maintain spare parts using a tracking sheet.
- Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
Additional Duties:
- Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management, preferably in a data center or critical infrastructure environment.
- Experience with heavy construction and managing security in dynamic environments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency with security reporting tools and software.
- Solid troubleshooting skills for equipment or software issues.
- Ability to develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Initiative-driven with a focus on achieving results.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of security and safety.
- Travel required is expected to be up to 25% but may increase over time as the business evolves
Additional Details
- Salary Range: $120,000-$130,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

- Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
