Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a full-stack software engineer to develop the user-facing applications that are deployed to the field with our batteries. These applications interface with the control software to provide visibility and control of the power plant at all levels, enabling field engineers to commission and service our battery systems. You’ll be part of the Plant Software team, which builds all of our embedded software services shipped to the field, and you’ll also work closely with Form’s field engineers, firmware engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, and adjacent software teams. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

This is a hybrid role, which will require working onsite from our Berkeley, CA site at least 3 days per week.

What you'll do

  • Develop UI features end-to-end, from frontend views to backend APIs
  • Drive features through all stages of development, from gathering requirements to supporting feature rollout and collecting user feedback
  • May flex beyond application development to build out core infrastructure and control services in the embedded stack
  • Build and leverage strong working relationships with your product manager, designer, end users, adjacent teams, and direct teammates, proactively engaging others throughout the development process

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2+ years of professional software engineering industry experience, including developing and maintaining systems in production environments
  • Experience with React or other SPA-based web development
  • Highly collaborative work style, marked by deep user empathy and curiosity
  • Ownership mindset with a strong sense of initiative
  • Excitement for learning Python, Go, gRPC, Protobuf, or industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, CAN, etc.) (or bonus points for experience!)
