Position Summary:

The Educational Coordinator supports outreach and engagement efforts of the two CAMs’ cornerstone programs -- On the Road and Problem-Based Learning programming by planning, coordinating, and delivering agricultural literacy experiences in schools and community spaces that connect diverse audiences with Colorado agriculture, food systems, natural resources, and CSU programs.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Coordinate and Deliver Statewide On the Road agricultural literacy programming; plans, prepares, and facilitates educational programming in communities across Colorado, including county fairs, schools, partner sites, and community events.
  • Support School-Based Problem-Based Learning Programming; works with teachers, schools, and partners to implement curriculum that helps learners explore real-world issues related to agriculture, food systems, natural resources, sustainability, and agricultural careers.
  • Facilitate Engaging, Educationally Sound Learning Experiences; uses teaching, facilitation, and learner-development knowledge to adapt instruction in real time based on audience needs, setting, age level, partner expectations, and available resources.
  • Develop and Adapt Curriculum and Educational Resources; creates, refines, and modifies lesson plans, hands-on activities, instructional materials, and learning resources for different ages, settings, and audiences.
  • Evaluate Programs and Support Continuous Improvement; collects and summarizes evaluation data, participant feedback, engagement metrics, and learning outcomes to improve programming, curriculum, student training, and impact reporting.
  • Train and Mentor Student Educators; supports undergraduate and graduate student educators through training, coaching, event preparation, facilitation guidance, professional communication support, and reflection.
  • Build and Maintain Partnerships Across Colorado; develops positive working relationships with schools, teachers, county fair representatives, community organizations, agricultural partners, CSU collaborators, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent CAM’s Agriculture Academy and CSU Professionally; serves as a professional representative of CAM’s and CSU in school, community, industry, and public outreach settings while strengthening connections between CSU, Colorado communities, and agriculture.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Criminal background check.
  • Valid driver’s license by employment start date.
  • Position requires the ability to transport, set up, and break down educational materials and outreach supplies for school, community, and county fair programming. This may include standing for extended periods of time, moving throughout event spaces, and lifting or carrying program materials as needed.
  • Authorized to work in the United States by employment start date.
  • 14-16 in-person or location-specific workdays per month, with the remaining workdays per month available for flexible work arrangements per supervisor approval.
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings, including schools, classrooms, county fairs, outdoor event spaces, community venues, and agricultural education settings.
  • Some overnight travel may be required depending on program location and event schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agricultural education, agricultural communications, animal science, plant science, natural resources, education, extension education, youth development, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of one year of teaching, facilitation, or instructional experience in K–12 education, extension/ youth development, or a related educational setting.
  • Strong organization and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to develop, adapt, and deliver educational materials for varying audiences.
  • Ability to travel regularly to schools, county fairs, community events, CSU Spur, the CoBank Center for Agricultural Education, and partner sites across Colorado.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, extended event days, and summer events as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth, teachers, schools, community audiences, or informal education settings.
  • Experience developing or adapting curriculum, lessons, or educational resources.
  • Familiarity with school based agricultural education/ FFA, extension and 4-H.
  • Experience mentoring, supervising, or training undergraduate students, graduate students, volunteers, or youth leaders.
  • Experience with program evaluation, data collection, assessment, or impact reporting.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English communication.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, professional judgment, analytical thinking, and personal accountability in coordinating educational programs.

Salary Range

$55,000-$65,000
