About The Role

We provide our clients with a comprehensive view of strategic communications that leverages our integrated suite of services, including corporate reputation, financial and transaction communications, and public affairs in all the major markets around the world.

Our Corporate Positioning & Insights team is looking for a Senior Director who will take a leadership role in the day-to-day management of client accounts, as well as support new business, firm and team initiatives.

FTI Consulting’s Corporate Positioning & Insights practice partners with our clients to design and execute multi-stakeholder campaigns that build confidence, enhance positioning and elicit action among key stakeholder groups. We help organizations in highly regulated industries define their corporate narrative and use strategic communications to protect and promote their license to operate.

A successful Senior Director will be responsible for managing both up and down within account teams to appropriately service clients. This individual will interact with and provide communications counsel to C-suite and communications executives; develop and execute integrated communications strategies to deliver results and meet client expectations; review and draft a variety of materials for client use; and actively participate in firm development and new business pursuits to help grow the practice. Coaching and mentoring junior members is an important part of the Senior Director role to ensure all team members have the skills and tools to perform well at their level.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

Client Delivery

  • Develop and advise on clients’ multi-stakeholder integrated communications strategies to help position companies and executives; strategies often inclusive of paid media and/or influencer engagement
  • Serve as the day-to-day client contact for multiple accounts, anticipating client needs with minimal oversight
  • Manage client projects, identifying resources and ensuring high-quality work is delivered on-time and within budget
  • Develop corporate narratives, editorial frameworks, key messages and talking points to bring our clients’ stories to life
  • Write and edit a variety of internal and external materials for clients such as strategy memos, presentations, press releases, talking points, emails, web content, social media content, etc., with strong attention to detail
  • Understand and implement measurement frameworks to ensure client’s KPI’s are defined and tracked
  • Understand and have a POV on the best use of AI in communications
  • Counsel clients about industry developments, trends and issues

Business Development

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Identify emerging opportunities to add more value for the client
  • Participate in the generation of new business proposals and presentations
  • Cultivate an internal and external network, and identify areas where you/the team can support

Practice Leadership

  • Support the development and delivery of thought leadership surrounding emerging trends and issues
  • Work with junior staff as a leader and demonstrate mentoring ability, effectively manage individuals and teams, and foster a positive team culture
  • Anticipate potentially difficult situations and be able to evaluate strategies and alternatives with senior management
  • Effectively manage competing demands for time

What You Will Need To Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience at a communications agency or a relevant in-house communications team
  • Travel required to clients and to FTI office(s)
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer on a full-time basis; this position does not provide visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Provide expert communications, advocacy, positioning and other strategic counsel to clients
  • Experience working with the media to shape coverage and secure meaningful engagement for clients through traditional news, digital, trade, podcasts, etc.
  • Experience developing executive positioning and thought leadership campaigns for senior-level executives
  • Experience with ESG/CSR-related initiatives and programs
  • Experience with influencers/influencer strategy and new media outlets
  • Superior writing, editing and researching skills; understanding of Associated Press Style Guidelines
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, deadline-oriented dynamic environment with regular change
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to proactively support/counsel key client relationship
  • Demonstrated development of a professional network
  • Experience with media database tools and pitching media to secure client coverage
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word

Compensation

Minimum Pay: $134,000 Maximum Pay: $245,000
