Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, Coordinates Environment of Care related projects to ensure regulatory compliance. Provides a point contact for Safety and Environment of Care related inquiries. Assists with the maintenance of compliance related materials. The position will also be responsible for assisting other departments to coordinate projects and programs to maintain organizational compliance and support workplace safety initiatives. Coordinates safety program deliverables with the other members of the safety department. Demonstrates a high level of understanding about the Joint Commission standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Updates software used to maintain Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements to support safe working environment initiatives. (15%)
  • Maintains Environment of Care related policies and procedures by collaborating with the each of the departments within the Environment of Care. (20%)
  • Schedules Environment of Care rounds throughout the organization and follows up on findings to improve compliance with Joint Commission standards. (10%)
  • Audits the fire safety processes. Provides oversight, schedules, and maintains records of fire drills throughout the network. (25%)
  • Tracks, updates and schedules committee meetings for Environment of Care. (5%)
  • Leads Facility Safety Representatives with quarterly meetings and support (10%)
  • Supports Hospital and ACS locations during regulatory inspections and surveys by assisting leadership with questions related to regulatory requirements. (10%)
  • Accesses, interprets, and explains Joint Commission standards with the support and guidance of other members of the safety team. (5%)

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Work Experience:

  • 4-6 years experience in a healthcare organization working with Joint Commission standards required

Licenses: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Environment of Care Standards.
  • Ability to coordinate several small and medium projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with hospital operations.
