Full job description
Eurofins PSS is seeking a Formulation Scientist Group Leader to collaborate with us and lead a new team supporting high-throughput biologics formulation and analytical workflows in a development lab environment. Responsibilities include formulating proteins at high concentrations, executing stability studies, and performing analytical methods to measure conformational and colloidal stability while leading a team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute protein-based developability and stability workflows, including formulation at high concentrations, viscometry, size exclusion chromatography, and assays for thermal and colloidal stability
- Execute workflows using automated high-throughput systems
- Independently support ongoing studies and high-level activities
- Apply scientific ownership and critical thinking to evaluate workflows and proactively communicate observations, risks, and process improvements
- Maintain accurate, compliant documentation within a method development environment
- Analyze data and report/communicate results
- May be expected to work with Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) projects in Occupational Exposure Band 4 (OEB4) and/or OEB5, as well as other OEB4 materials
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Support and monitors the performance of the team of employees
- May participate in new hire interviews
- Supports the on-boarding process of new employees
- Disseminate administrative communications
- Demonstrate and promote the company's vision
- Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations
- Ensure coverage and performance for all shifts, and work duties
- Performs administrative tasks for team member growth and development
- Adeptly balance technical lab work with leadership responsibilities
- Foster morale and teamwork
Basic Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors in a scientific discipline
- 2+ years of hands-on industry or research lab experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with buffer prep, high concentration antibody formulation via UFDF or TFF, protein handling, and assay execution
- Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Experience with stability assays, including thermal or colloidal stability assessments
- Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation such as SEC, HPLC, viscometry, rheology, DLS, DSC, DSF, or other related biophysical/analytical platforms
- Knowledge of protein chemistry and degradation
- Good time management and multi-tasking skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to work within a cross-functional team
- Experience working in a method development or non-GMP development environment
- Exposure to automation or high-throughput workflows a plus
The position is onsite, full-time, Monday-Friday from 8am-5 pm. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Gaithersburg, MD and the surrounding areas are encouraged to apply. Compensation is between $32 to $36 hourly based on experience level.
