Mercer University is searching for a Coordinator of Financial Planning on the Macon, Georgia campus.

Responsibilities

The Coordinator of Financial Planning will advise students, parents, faculty, staff, and others regarding federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs for the purposes of addressing their needs to include, but not be limited to the completion of funding applications such as the FAFSA and GSFAPP and required documentation and tasks to successfully complete financial aid process. Advise students regarding the financial aid process and needs of a moderate complexity via phone, in-person, and email. Collaborates with various university departments to support the financial aid process and the student’s enrollment experience. Coordinates and participates in outreach projects, financial aid seminars, student orientations, and workshops held on and off-site. This position collects, scans and enters financial aid documents, correspondence, and I-9 documentation into the student information system and archive network. This position will assist the Director for Student Services with other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Two years of college coursework and two years of administrative support experience are required. In lieu of education, equivalent directly related experience will be considered. Candidates should have general working knowledge of Word and Excel.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices, with the ability to provide courteous, professional, and responsive service to students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and shredders.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn to use Anthology Student or similar student information systems.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication, including the ability to clearly explain financial aid information and effectively address questions, concerns, and difficult situations.
  • Skill in data entry and records management, including accurately processing and maintaining student documentation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and individuals from diverse backgrounds through in-person, telephone, and written communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, adapt to changing priorities, and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain professional, positive, and customer-focused while assisting students and families with financial aid matters and resolving concerns.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and perform duties accurately under pressure.
  • Ability to use office technology and electronic document management systems to process and maintain student records.
