Job Description
Supervisor: Foreman
Job Description: Manage and assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties under close supervision. Usually an entry level supervisor position.
- Manage field crew in day-to-day production of projects
- Exhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment safety
- Order tools and equipment
- Interpret blueprints/plans and construct accordingly
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to the supervisor and/or Human Resources
Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience managing dirt crews on highway projects
- Lift, push, or pull and move up to seventy (70) pounds
- Climb, kneel, twist, and bend in various environments
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
- Demonstrated experience in utility work supervision to include gravity sewer, sewer force main, storm drain and waterline (NNWW preferably)
- Responsibilities to include but not limited to everyday operations for pipe installation from approved plans, planning and procuring materials for work, coordinating staff, working with owner representatives, and implementing a safe workplace.
- Be able to communicate in English via verbal and written communications
- Valid driver license for occasional, required travel
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to physically maneuver by foot minor obstacles at construction projects
- Work outdoors with exposure to changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind
Language Skills:
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Experience: Minimum 0-3 years of related construction experience preferred.
Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Able to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
Working Conditions: Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.).
