The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the product lifecycle management and engineering application support functions in support of the company's existing product portfolio. This role combines technical leadership, people leadership, and hands-on engineering execution.

Initially, the successful candidate will operate as a working manager, directly contributing to engineering projects while leading a small team of engineering professionals responsible for product application support, engineering changes, customer-driven modifications, and product lifecycle management. As the organization continues to grow, the Engineering Manager will play a critical role in building the engineering organization, developing talent, implementing scalable processes, and increasing organizational capability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engineering Leadership

  • Lead engineering activities supporting the existing product portfolio throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Own execution of engineering priorities, including product improvements, engineering changes, obsolescence management, and customer-requested modifications.
  • Provide engineering leadership and technical guidance for investigations related to field failures, manufacturing issues, customer complaints, and product performance concerns in partnership with Quality and Operations.
  • Ensure timely resolution of engineering requests from operations, quality, supply chain, sales, and customers.
  • Drive product reliability, manufacturability, and performance improvements.
  • Translate business objectives into engineering priorities, resource plans, and organizational actions.
  • Participate in engineering strategy, resource planning, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Support the development of long-term engineering capabilities aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the engineering organization through talent development, process improvement, and organizational design.

Working Manager Responsibilities

  • Personally execute engineering work on critical projects and business priorities.
  • Review designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Participate directly in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, designers, manufacturing personnel, and cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical challenges.
  • Communicate project status, risks, priorities, and resource constraints effectively to cross-functional leadership

Team Leadership and Talent Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering personnel.
  • Conduct goal setting, performance reviews, regular one-on-one meetings, and development discussions.
  • Identify growth opportunities for team members and help develop future technical and people leaders.
  • Create a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of future engineering team members.

Building Organizational Capability

  • Develop and implement scalable engineering processes.
  • Improve engineering effectiveness through standardization, documentation, and process discipline.
  • Build systems that enable growth without creating organizational bottlenecks.
  • Evaluate team capacity and capabilities to align resources with changing business needs.
  • Recommend organizational improvements, staffing plans, and capability investments.

Engineering Change and Product Lifecycle Management

  • Own and continuously improve engineering change processes.
  • Ensure engineering documentation remains accurate, controlled, and aligned with company requirements.
  • Lead redesign efforts driven by quality, cost, supply chain, manufacturing, or customer needs.
  • Support lifecycle management activities including component obsolescence and supplier transitions.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience leading projects, teams, or technical initiatives.
  • Experience solving complex technical and business problems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, product development, and change management processes.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Experience supervising engineers, designers, or technical personnel.
  • Experience working in small or medium-sized manufacturing organizations. (Preferred)
  • Experience in the PVF (Pipe, Valve, & Fitting) industry. (Preferred)
  • Experience developing or improving engineering processes and systems. (Preferred)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience within product design, manufacturing, engineering, or related disciplines.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $124,000.00 - $186,000.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
