JOB DETAILS
Base pay starts at $25.00-$30.00 per hour
SCOPE OF ROLE
A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) truck driver plays a crucial role in the transportation and logistics industry. The Driver will be expected to transport and deliver building materials to our dealers, distribution centers and/or construction job sites using a tractor-trailer. This position requires a wide range of skills from practicing safe driving and delivery to top-notch customer service. There will be up to two nights over the road that will take place two to five times out of the year.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Driving Long Distances: Transport goods to various destinations, often across state lines.
- Cargo Management: Load, secure, and unload cargo safely.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of working hours and miles driven.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and maintenance of the truck to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as company policies.
- Route Planning: Use GPS and other tools to plan efficient routes.
- Communication: Coordinate with dispatchers and communicate effectively with clients and co-workers.
- Safety: Monitor traffic and weather conditions to ensure safe driving practices
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Clean driving record.
- Minimum of two years experience as a truck driver, preferably with long-haul driving.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Willingness to tarp and strap flatbed loads.
- Experience operating trailer mounted forklift.
- Familiarity with electronic equipment and software, such as GPS and AVL units.
- Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including loading and unloading cargo
