Role Description
Form Energy is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Test Infrastructure team in Berkeley, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of test equipment that enables the execution of critical tests across our iron-air battery systems and supporting hardware. You will be invested in developing and deploying novel, state-of-the-art test equipment including the design of mechanical and fluid handling systems, and electronics test stands supporting Hardware In the Loop (HIL) testing, while collaborating with the electrical subteam and supporting our operations team in keeping our tests online.

What you'll do
- Own the design, build, and deployment of lab equipment for testing large numbers of battery cells and modules, and related electronics and hardware, and auxiliary systems
- Design, draft, and manufacture mechanical components and assemblies for our test stands, including pumps, fans, and piping
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers and operations teams to diagnose product and test equipment issues to keep tests online
- Partner with other engineers to develop scalable documentation and change management systems
- Train technicians and other users on new lab equipment and processes
- Be a champion for safety in the development of new equipment and processes
What you'll bring:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field, with 4+ years of industry experience in mechanical, fluid, and/or electronic systems
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drafting using SolidWorks or a similar program
- Key involvement in pioneering hands-on technical projects as an individual contributor. Activities including designing, drafting, and manufacturing components & assemblies; engineering analysis including FEA, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, material selection, and manufacturability; communicating with stakeholders
- Experience standardizing and maintaining fleets of electromechanical systems
- Experience identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Detail oriented, a proactive self starter with excellent communication and organizational skills
- A willingness to learn and help others, a natural curiosity, and a desire to make an impact
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
