Role Description
Form Energy is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to lead the development, commissioning, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment supporting our next-generation energy storage technology. This role will independently lead equipment projects from concept through production, working closely with Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and external equipment vendors to deliver robust, reliable, and manufacturable production systems.
As part of the Advanced Manufacturing team, you will play a key role in scaling manufacturing by supporting new equipment introductions, improving existing production lines, and driving technical problem solving during commissioning and production ramp. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys hands-on manufacturing, equipment development, and solving complex technical challenges. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do
- Lead the design, development, installation, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment supporting prototype and production manufacturing.
- Own equipment projects from concept through startup, ensuring systems meet safety, quality, throughput, and reliability objectives.
- Work directly with equipment vendors to develop specifications, review designs, resolve technical issues, and support FAT, SAT, installation, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and manufacturing issues during equipment integration, startup, and production ramp using structured problem-solving techniques.
- Partner closely with Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Controls Engineering, and Quality to develop robust manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Develop equipment specifications, layouts, tooling, fixtures, and mechanical improvements that enhance manufacturability and operational performance.
- Lead equipment design reviews and proactively identify manufacturing risks before equipment is built.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability, uptime, throughput, safety, and maintainability.
- Support production by resolving equipment failures, implementing corrective actions, and improving long-term equipment performance.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians while contributing to engineering standards and best practices.
What you'll bring:
- 4–8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, automation, or advanced manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, commissioning, or improving manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with experience in machine design, tooling, material handling, and manufacturing equipment.
- Experience working with equipment vendors through equipment design, build, FAT/SAT, installation, or startup activities.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and manufacturing problems using structured root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, maintenance, and external partners.
