Visa Direct is Visa's real-time money movement platform that enables financial institutions, fintechs, businesses, and governments to send and receive funds quickly and securely to eligible cards, accounts, wallets, and other endpoints around the world and supports a broad range of consumer and commercial use cases, including person-to-person (P2P) payments, account-to-account transfers, merchant and marketplace payouts, gig-worker and earned wage access disbursements, insurance claim payments, loan disbursements, government benefit payments, real-time treasury and business payments, and cross-border remittances.

By enabling near real-time money movement, Visa Direct helps clients improve customer experiences, enhance cash flow, reduce reliance on legacy payment methods, and compete more effectively in an increasingly real-time payments ecosystem.

Responsibilities

The Director, Visa Direct FI Sales will own the sales lifecycle from early-stage client discovery and solution design through commercial structuring, negotiation, implementation planning, and ongoing relationship management. The role requires strong executive presence, disciplined pipeline management, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across product, finance, legal, risk, marketing, client services, and technology.

  • Collaborate with Account Executives and cross-functional teams to prioritize and support targeted financial institutions by state of readiness, value proposition, and economic opportunity.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow Visa Direct adoption among domestic and global financial institutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on payment trends, competitive dynamics, real-time payments, digital wallets, account-to-account payments, and cross-border money movement.
  • Consult with clients to understand strategic priorities, payment challenges, and money movement objectives; co-design solutions that align Visa Direct capabilities to client needs.
  • Structure, negotiate, and close complex commercial agreements while balancing client requirements, Visa economics, risk considerations, and long-term growth objectives.
  • Partner with processors, fintechs, payment enablers, and technology providers to deliver scalable money movement solutions and go-to-market strategies.
  • Build business cases, financial models, and value propositions that clearly communicate the commercial and strategic benefits of Visa Direct.
  • Present Visa Direct capabilities and strategic recommendations to senior client executives, internal leadership, conferences, and client events.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Strong proficiency in MS software products, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Deep expertise in domestic and cross-border payments, money movement, and payment networks, including RTP, FedNow, ACH, wires, SWIFT, FX, card-based payments, account-to-account payments, and digital payment platforms such as Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, and Apple Cash.
  • Experience in sales, business development, product management, solution design, product commercialization, or strategic partnerships within financial services or payments.
  • Strong understanding of financial institution payment strategies across consumer banking, commercial banking, treasury management, wealth management, and digital channels.
  • Proven ability to develop, structure, negotiate, and close complex commercial opportunities with financial institutions and strategic ecosystem partners.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, presentation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and translate complex concepts into compelling business value.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and driving results in a fast-paced, matrixed, and often ambiguous environment.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Self-starter with intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and passion for the future of real-time, digital, and cross-border money movement.

The estimated salary range for this position is $242,000.00 to $ 387,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
