General Summary
This position is responsible for sampling, testing, and inspecting construction materials or elements in a laboratory or field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications. Level II technicians must sample and test two construction materials in either a lab and/or field setting.
- The Materials QC Technician Level II position description may be superseded by wage classification(s) in local collective bargaining agreements.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Ensure compliance with supplier and owner specifications by sampling and testing construction materials, including soil, aggregate, hot mix asphalt (HMA), and Portland cement concrete (PCC), to maintain quality standards
- Prepare and communicate testing and inspection results to supervisors and plant personnel to ensure quality control standards are satisfied and necessary process changes are implemented
- Follow the requirements for materials quality outlined in the company management system (GMS) and the Construction Materials Playbook to ensure compliance and maintain high standards
- Train Level I technicians on sampling and testing of construction materials to prepare them for additional certification and enhance their skills
- Participate in and promote company safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with safety regulations
Education
- High school diploma preferred
- Regional or State Agency certification for material being sampled, tested, inspected required
- NICET I certification desired
Work Experience
- 1+ years of related experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations
- Basic computer skills, basic proficiency Microsoft Excel
- Good oral and written communication skills

Base Salary Range:
$50,832.00 - $76,247.00Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
