AECOM is seeking a Rail Operations and Maintenance Manager. This position is available as a remote work option.
Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Direct and oversee day-to-day rail operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Develop and maintain operating procedures, schedules, and contingency plans.
- Coordinate service delivery activities and respond to operational disruptions and emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable FRA, FTA, OSHA, and company regulations and standards.
Maintenance Management
- Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for rolling stock, track, signals, facilities, and related infrastructure.
- Develop maintenance schedules and asset management strategies to maximize system reliability.
- Monitor equipment performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage maintenance planning, resources, inventory, and vendor relationships.
- Ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues affecting operations.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop operations and maintenance personnel.
- Foster a culture centered on safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee training and development.
- Ensure adequate staffing and workforce planning to support operational requirements.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture across all departments.
- Lead investigations of incidents, accidents, and service disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, operating rules, and maintenance standards.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
Budget & Strategic Planning
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
- Support capital improvement projects and long-term asset management planning.
- Provide operational analysis and reporting to senior leadership.

Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Transportation, Operations Management, Business, or a related field and ten years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
Preferred:
- 7 years of progressive experience in rail operations, maintenance, or transportation management.
- 3 years of leadership experience managing operational and/or maintenance teams.
- Experience in rail systems, rolling stock, track infrastructure, signal systems, and maintenance practices.
- Experience with safety management systems and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making
- Experience in passenger rail, commuter rail, light rail, heavy rail, or transit systems.
- Professional certifications related to transportation, maintenance, safety, or project management.
- Familiarity with CMMS, asset management systems, and performance reporting tools.
- Knowledge of FRA, FTA, OSHA, and applicable transportation regulations.
- Relocation is not an option for this position,
- Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and respond to emergencies as required.
