Primary Function of Position:

The IonTM endoluminal system is Intuitive’s robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. The SIM test engineer will work closely with a team of engineers and subject matter experts to test and improve the quality, safety, and reliability of the IonTM endoluminal system. The successful candidate will support both released products and new product development initiatives by executing test procedures, identifying product issues, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting results.

This role provides an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of clinical workflows and product use cases while contributing to the continuous improvement of innovative robotic-assisted technology. The candidate should demonstrate curiosity, strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Clinical Engineers to develop clinical workflow procedures (SIM Tests) that represent common use cases for Ion products.
  • Perform SIM testing based on clinical workflows in a clinical and/or engineering environment
  • Identify and thoroughly document hardware and software anomalies and help resolve defects and inconsistencies
  • Create summary reports to track overall testing for a product
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing to help conceptualize designs and improve reliability.
  • Participate in formal design verification by executing protocols, writing test reports, and logging and verifying anomalies when necessary.
  • Perform sanity testing and release acceptance testing and write reports.
  • Present test results and strategy to various stakeholders.
  • Provide in-depth and interactive product demos
  • Purchase lab supplies as needed.

Skill/Job Requirements:

To qualify for this position, a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline and 2 years’ experience (or Master’s degree).
  • Proficient in using computer applications like Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient in using Linux OS, including executing shell commands via the terminal
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with other teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills

Ideally, a candidate would also have:

  • Experience with Medical Design Control processes.
  • Experience with Bug Tracking tools.
  • Experience with Requirements Management Tools.
  • Experience with Test Management Tools.
